Read it and help us reach 1,250 3,000
UPDATE:
As of 05/07/21 our petition moves steadily towards 2,900. Nationally, it has inspired some useful media. This (from Saturday):
The bad news came a few days earlier when BHCC confirmed that our petition – despite passing the qualifying number of 1,250 – has been refused by the Mayor and/or CEO. The magic number means the Petition can form the basis of a debate at the next full-council. Their reason for refusal is that the questions raised by the petition’s bullet points had been asked previously in my Deputation to the Children, Young People and Services committee on June 14th. A flustered Cllr Mac Cafferty explained to me that it is vexatious to keep coming to the council with the same issues. I responded (with many points) but mainly to state how contemptuous it is to for a council to take such a stance when 2,800 people (and counting) point out that the questions are NEVER answered. Vexatious: causing or tending to cause annoyance, frustration, or worry. Describes the growing public fury perfectly.
And, by the way, new BHCC rules on Change.org petitions mean ours will never be debated (unless a councillor finally speaks up) unlike the social activist Change.org that bolstered council police in Augusts last year.
Hi Adrian, I’m glad you are taking this stand against the invidious acts of one or more council members.
I find satire is a powerful counter to those who deliberately or ignorantly cause harm, and think you should share this piece by one of todays master satirists on the subject of teaching racism in schools.

At this point I would hope parents have summoned the governors of schools their children are attending to demand an explanation, and to require the resignation of head teachers who willingly push the agenda of division we see everywhere.
A suspicious character might think that some councillors have been hired to behave like idiots so that we take our eyes off them.
Lets ensure that never happens, the more of us that witness their actions the more guilty they become and the fewer places there are to hide..
Glad to be in touch with you Graham. Thanks for your comments.

Hello Adrian, just to add to the melting pot.I was once called a “stupid paddy bitch” by a work colleague when I pointed out he was being racist & sexist he laughed hysterically. He further informed me that you can only be racist to a Black Person & as he was Black Afro Caribbean anyone who accused him of being racist was mad, so now this racist, misogynistic male was telling me I was mad too?!’Then all the other Afro Caribbean staff members crowded around me & informed me that everyone knew Irish people were stupid, laughing like a pack of hyenas & pointing at me they told me I proved their point I was SO stupid I didn’t even realise just how stupid Irish people were!!Yep, that was 3Oyrs ago, yet in Brighton in recent years female relatives with Irish passports were denied entry to a club on the basis that they were IRISH by “Black Male Bouncers” they said no we don’t allow Irish in our club & proceeded to make very racist Irish Jokes & mocking Irish Accents. When they were called racist by the girls the Black Male Bouncers laughed uncontrollably & said it’s true then you Irish are really, really stupid. The bouncers said the standard line “You can only be racist to black people”!! This is the reality of life on the street, in schools, workplaces, clubs I could go on.
Get real & get the bigger picture Brighton & stop lying about the complexities of race issues.
Oh & while I’m here has Brighton ever considered Irish History Month 600 yrs of colonial rule in Ireland, the realities of Northern Ireland, the God awful violence perpetrated on mainland Britain during the years of NI conflicts.Stop making everything so black & white, because it isn’t.
Fascinating comment – thank you. I will get back to you.
Eva – I neglected to reply (though when I read your comment I was nodding in agreement). Anti-Irish racism has a long and shameful history.
all best
Adrian
